For years, conservative commentators like Mark Levin have argued that Pennsylvania’s approach to mail-in voting makes the state susceptible to election fraud.
However, this week saw Republicans win a major court case that could assuage some of those concerns.
Requirement for dated signatures on mail-in-ballots upheld
According to Breitbart, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit overturned a controversial lower court ruling on Wednesday.
That previous ruling itself overturned a ruling by Pennsylvania’s highest judicial body which upheld a dated signature requirement for mail-in voting.
“The Pennsylvania General Assembly has decided that mail-in voters must date the declaration on the return envelope of their ballot to make their vote effective,” the ruling noted
“The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania unanimously held this ballot-casting rule is mandatory; thus, failure to comply renders a ballot invalid under Pennsylvania law,” it stressed.
Lawsuit brought by Republican National Committee and other GOP groups
Breitbart noted that the Republican National Committee (Republican National Committee) put out a statement which welcomed Wednesday’s decision.
“In November 2022, the Republican National Committee, NRCC, and PAGOP secured a victory on this issue in front of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court,” the statement explained
“A federal district court then struck down the dated signature requirement in November 2023. We appealed, and now the U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals has agreed with the Republican National Committee’s argument,”

“This was a 2-1 ruling handed down by 3 Democrat-appointed judges,” the Republican National Committee continued. “This ruling will have far-reaching effects regarding left-wing attempts to weaponize the Materiality Provision of the Civil Rights Act across the country and represents a victory for mail ballot safeguards in a crucial swing state.”
Republican National Committee chairman says GOP is fighting for election integrity in court
Republican National Committee chairman Michael Whatley spoke up as well, saying, “This is a crucial victory for election integrity and voter confidence in the Keystone State and nationwide.”
“Pennsylvanians deserve to feel confident in the security of their mail ballots, and this 3rd Circuit ruling roundly rejects unlawful left-wing attempts to count undated or incorrectly dated mail ballots,” he stressed.
Whatley went on to pledge that “Republicans will continue to fight and win for election integrity in courts across the country ahead of the 2024 election.”
