“Long COVID” isn’t actually a thing, according to government-backed Australian medical researchers who are urging the world to stop using the fear-inducing term.
What the scores of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are experiencing is nothing more than “virus fatigue symptoms,” according to the researchers, the New York Post reports.
Were it not for the hype, they argue, most people wouldn’t even notice the symptoms.
Dr. John Gerrard, Queensland Chief Health Officer, oversaw the new study.
“We believe it is time to stop using terms like ‘Long COVID,’” he said. “They wrongly imply there is something unique and exceptional about longer term symptoms associated with this virus.”
In fact, latching onto the terms can be hazardous to your health.
“This terminology can cause unnecessary fear, and in some cases, hyper-vigilance to longer symptoms that can impede recovery,” Gerrard said.
The symptoms typically attributed to long COVID are vague and varied: “fatigue, brain fog, cough, shortness of breath, change to smell and taste, dizziness, and rapid or irregular heartbeat,” according to The Post.
The study tracked sick Australians who had tested both positive and negative for COVID-19 as the spring of 2022 drew to a close. A year later, the researchers checked up on their symptoms and overall quality of life.
By spring of 2023, 16 percent of participants reported that they were still experiencing symptoms. For 3.6 percent, their daily lives were clouded with “moderate-to-severe functional impairment.”
“No evidence was found that adults who tested positive in 2022 were experiencing this increased level of impairment at a higher rate than those who tested negative, or those who simply had the flu,” according to The Post. “The study noted that rates of diagnosed ‘Long COVID’ were lower than in other countries, due to tight restrictions imposed by the Australian government during the pandemic.”
“In health systems with highly vaccinated populations, long COVID may have appeared to be a distinct and severe illness because of high volumes of COVID-19 cases during the pandemic,” Gerrard explained. “However, we found that the rates of ongoing symptoms and functional impairment are indistinguishable from other post-viral illnesses.”
“These findings underscore the importance of comparing post-COVID-19 outcomes with those following other respiratory infections, and of further research into post-viral syndromes,” the doctor added.
So the life-altering sense of complete exhaustion following such mundane activities as fetching the mail from the driveway box is totally normal? If your Spidey Senses are tingling, there may be a good reason.
While Dr. Pierre Kory, president and co-founder of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), a group dedicated to preventing and treating COVID-19, agrees that “long COVID” is a lie, it does exist, only by other narrative-busting names.
“They call it long COVID,” Dr. Kory recently told Tucker Carlson in a lengthy interview. “You’ve heard of the term yes, disease, long COVID. So I’m an expert at it. But the reality is, if you look at my practice, maybe 1,200 patients, 70% are long vax, not long COVID, meaning all of their issues – the syndrome started after the vaccine, not COVID.”

“The vast majority are long vax,” he stated. “And so the only disease that’s recognized in this country is long COVID. All the academic medical centers, they have these little long COVID clinics. It’s not vaccine injury clinics, it’s long COVID clinics. So there’s this constant burying of the role of the vaccine in what’s befallen society.”
According to Kory, “long COVID” and “long vax” are “the same disease” with “different triggers.”
“The only real differences between the two conditions is that the vaccinated are, on average, sicker and more disabled than the long COVIDs, with some pretty prominent exceptions to that,” the doctor told Carlson. “But the point I want to kind of give you, Tucker, is that the disease, although, has a new name, long Covid. It’s not a new disease.
“It’s been around for decades, and it’s traditionally been called ‘myalgic encephalomyelitis’ slash ‘chronic fatigue syndrome,’” he explained. “It’s MECFS, part of CFS, of course.”
“That’s effectively what long COVID and long vax is,” he stated. “Because the hallmarks of that disease is a new, inexorable fatigue, what’s called ‘post-exertional malaise,’ which means when they try to do even simple activities.”
Dr. Gerrard’s study “is due to be presented next month at 2024’s European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Barcelona,” according to The Post.
