All-star basketball player Steph Curry’s leftist activism came full circle from social justice warrior to hypocrite recently when he went from NBA to NIMBY.
The Golden State Warriors point guard known for his favor of former President Barack Obama, endorsement of President Joe Biden and penchant for Trump Derangement Syndrome regarding former President Donald Trump unsurprisingly proved himself to be another elitist in a letter penned by him and his wife Ayesha Curry to their mayor and city manager.
According to a report from the Almanac, the couple has long opposed California’s zoning mandate that would see a housing project erected in their affluent Atherton, Ca. community, ranked by Forbes as the “most expensive” zip code in the country, despite supporting the progressives that made it a reality.
“As Atherton residents … we have been following along with the housing element updates with special interest in the 23 Oakwood property,” the couple wrote of the 1.5-acre lot that sits adjacent to their $31 million home on January 18. “We hesitate to add to the ‘not in our backyard’ (literally) rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today’s meeting. Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home.”

The proposal would see that 16 three-story townhomes would be put up on the lot described as a “little village” and in their objections the Currys conceded on their concerns, “Should that not be sufficient for the state, we ask that the town commits to investing in considerably taller fencing and landscaping to block sight lines onto our family’s property.”
With the Atherton City Council set to vote on the final version of a plan submitted to the state Housing and Community Development Department Tuesday, it was noted in the objections that the current proposal wouldn’t even satisfy the state’s housing quota requirements with council member Rick DeGolia contending low-income housing in Atherton would not be possible with land valued at $8 million per acre.
When the couple appeared at the Democratic National Convention in 2020 to endorse Biden, Ayesha had made references to “social injustices” and “racial inequality” and his team declined visits to the White House in 2017 and 2018 during Trump’s administration. His attitude toward the former president hasn’t changed as was reported in September when he referred to Trump as a “threat.”
During an interview that appeared in Rolling Stone’s October issue, Curry said of Trump, “Most of his rhetoric — before he was president, during his last four years, and even now, if he tries to run again — has a tone of divisiveness that doesn’t have a place in our country.”

“As serious and as loud as the threat is of him or whoever else is running for office there’s a similar urgency and a loudness that’s necessary on the other side,” Curry said.
Amusingly, the couple ended their letter with “Thanks and God Bless” which was just one of the points they got razzed for by the public.
