Don Lemon’s show on Elon Musk’s X platform is no longer happening.
Lemon revealed on Wednesday that Musk called off their partnership. This came just hours after Lemon interviewed Musk on Friday. The interview was meant to launch “The Don Lemon Show” on X and YouTube. Despite the setback, Lemon plans to release the interview and future episodes on YouTube.
In the interview with Musk, Lemon noted they had a thorough discussion without restrictions. Yet, Musk seemed to disagree.
The show was part of X’s (formerly Twitter) efforts to expand its content through original shows. Alongside Lemon’s, X announced shows by Tulsi Gabbard and Jim Rome.
Under CEO Linda Yaccarino, X has been shifting towards more video content. This includes deals with Range Media Partners and a new WWE series.
The cancellation of Lemon’s show has stirred debate about X’s commitment to partnerships and free speech.
Lemon stated, “While Elon goes back on his word, I will be doubling down on my commitment to free speech and I cannot wait to get started.”
Lemon, previously with CNN, was let go nearly a year ago.
