A 35-year-old male was arrested and accused of kidnapping. Law enforcement personnel saved a 15-year-old girl who was taken away by him with a gun, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
The incident occured at approximately 12:30 p.m. Friday. A group of three teens, consisting of the victim and two other high schoolers, were in a car in the southwest area of Bexar County.
The driver observed a black Dodge Ram pickup truck that began to tail their car and stopped alongside them at a red light, Salazar stated. Alexander McCormick, the occupant of the Ram, blocked off the vehicle the teenagers were in and then exited the truck while aiming a gun at them.
Sheriff Salazar shared that one of the teens in the car knew the man that was threatening them with the gun.
McCormick ordered the girl to leave her car and join him in his truck, which she did out of fear for her life, according to Salazar. The suspect brought her to a residence, where she was reunited with another familiar teen – her boyfriend.
At the house, the man and her boyfriend decided to drop her off at a local park.
As the girl was travelling to the park, she started a video call with the other teen who had been left behind to share her whereabouts. Deputies were informed, and they formulated a plan and saved the girl from the park while arresting the suspect, McCormick.
Police were able to recover the pistol used in the abduction, as well as a shotgun, in the suspect’s car.
McCormick has been accused of serious offenses, including aggravated kidnapping, a felony of the first degree, and aggravated assault with a weapon, a second-degree felony. Each of these charges carries a bond of $60,000, Salazar reported.
At the time of his arrest, McCormick was out on bail for another felony offense, according to Salazar. The sheriff revealed that the previous case had similar allegations in which McCormick is alleged to have threatened some young people he believed had damaged his truck.
