Third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., qualified Monday to be added to the North Carolina ballot, Breitbart reported. President Joe Biden is facing a reelection nightmare as Kennedy picks up steam.
Kennedy’s campaign announced the addition of the fifth state that has admitted him to the 2024 presidential ballot. The environmental attorney gathered the 23,000 signatures, well above the 13,757 the Tar Heel State requires.
The 70-year-old is running under the We the People Party on the ballot in swing states, including Nevada and New Hampshire. Kennedy is also officially a presidential candidate in Hawaii.
He’s also boosted his public profile by announcing Nicole Shanahan has his running mate. The leftist attorney and philanthropist previously donated to Biden in the 2020 election.
Biden’s Youth Problem
The Biden campaign was hoping to capture the youth voting bloc to propel him to victory. However, as the UK Daily Mail noted, a recent survey suggests nearly half of young voters are eyeing a third party candidate.
While 28% of registered voters are considering a move away from the two major parties, a whopping 47% of voters under age 40 have suggested as much. It’s clear this would siphon votes away from Biden.

This should terrify the R’s, D’s and Uniparty, especially if young voters actually show up to vote in Nov. https://t.co/cf7Ge3lhkq pic.twitter.com/sQuFvLtTdq

Another indicator that should worry Biden is Kennedy’s popularity on social media. According to Axios, Kennedy has “lapped” Biden on TikTok after passing 1.1 million followers.
Compared to just 273,000 for Biden, Kennedy is certainly running rings around the opposition in the place where younger voters get their information. Add to it that former President Donald Trump doesn’t have an account at all and it seems Kennedy has corned the market on the platform.
A Longshot With High Impact
While these indicators are promising for Kennedy, it’s unlikely he’ll find a place White House. However, his impact may go well beyond the votes he’s able to capture for himself.
As the New York Post reported, the race between Biden and Trump is narrowing at a time when Kennedy seems to be attracting would-be Democratic voters. Even Kennedy’s sister is worried about this possibility and what it would mean.
“My biggest concern with Bobby’s run is that he is going to take votes away from Biden, and I think this election is going to come down to a handful of votes in a handful of states,” Rory Kennedy said Monday. This is the worst case scenario for those scared of Trump.
“And I am concerned that voting for Bobby is going to take votes away from Biden and lead to a Trump election. And I’m very concerned what that will do to our country and to the world over the ensuing four years,” the 55-year-old said.
Democrats have put themselves in this impossible situation by clinging to an aging Biden because of blind hatred for Trump. Kennedy is the one factor they couldn’t have anticipated, but it could cost Democrats the election after all.
