Misinformation is becoming an increasingly prevalent problem in today’s society. A study by the Pew Research Center found that 64% of adults in the US reported having encountered false or misleading information online. This trend is particularly concerning from a conservative perspective, as it undermines the principles of honest free speech and distortions of media propaganda. This distorted public discourse can cause a lack of trust in the media and government institutions.
Apparently, Axios is one media organization that engages in a lot of misinformation to propagandize many of its left-wing and unsuspecting other readers. As an example, we highlight a recent article they have posted.
Axios reports that the murder rates in Trump-voting states from 2020 have exceeded those in Biden-voting states every year since 2000, according to a new analysis by ThirdWay, a center-left think tank. Third Way’s report analyzed homicide data for all 50 states from 2000 through 2020 using CDC data. They used the 2020 presidential election results to characterize “red states” from the “blue states.”
ThirdWay goes on to say that there is a trend. When looking at the following chart would give you the impression that crime and, by implication, Republican policies are at fault. See this in the chart below and learn more here.
ThirdWay goes on to postulate the idea that “red states” (Trump-voters) are the problem. They cite guns, poverty, education attainment, social services, and police resources as the key issues “red states” face. Below is ThirdWay’s analysis of these supposedly “bad” “red states” overtime on a state-by-state basis. ThirdWay, states that the reliably-red states consistently made the top of the list are Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Missouri. See this in the table below.
Let’s dig into the “real” reality of this propaganda. First, let’s take a look at two states cited by ThirdWay, but it is emblematic of most of the other states cited by their report. Below is the 2020 presidential election map for Louisiana and Mississippi.
When digging into murder rates of each state on a city-by-city basis of Louisiana and Mississippi, one can quickly see that 60 to 80% of the murders are coming from “blue” areas in the “red” states. Or, more accurately, murders are a “big” city problem rather than a state-by-state problem regardless of the state’s color.
When looking at the demographics, Americans, on a trend basis, have been moving (or immigrating on a legal or illegal basis) more and more to urban areas. See this in the chart below and learn more here.
The rising trend of supposedly Trump-voting crimes areas cited by Axios at a state level is merely measuring the shifts in populations from rural to urban – again, regardless of the color of the state. Big cities also tend to be where some affected minority groups and immigrants live and are often the source of higher crime statistics and where these groups tend to vote Democrat and are forced to live under their often misguided policies.
Unfortunately, ThirdWay twists statistics, which gets amplified by Axios to gaslight the public into false and misinformation. Note that the writer Alexi McCammond is merely a “progressive” political reporter and certainly not a statistician to put the data properly she sees in perspective. McCammond merely repeats what left-wing think tanks tell her to say.
What is the real source of rising crime? Big city Democrat-infestations and their policies that are more recently causing crime to rise – learn more here.
As George Canning once said, “I can prove anything by statistics except the truth.”
