Following the victory of the San Francisco 49ers over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday with a score of 19 to 12, 49ers rookie Brock Purdy gave glory to God for the victory.
Since joining the 49ers in 2022, the 23-year-old has been repeatedly open about his faith and being true to himself while leaving it all out on the field, as reported by CBN News.
“It was just a great reminder of where my identity is, where it lies,” Purdy told Sports Spectrum. “And it’s in Jesus. And I continue to lean on Him. Again, the next day I didn’t go out and throw for 500 yards and was this awesome quarterback, but it was just this peace that I had with Him knowing that, ‘Hey, no matter what, I’m going to face moving forward during college football, God and Jesus are going to be my identity. And whatever I face, I won’t be shaken from it.’ I’ve got a great foundation in Him.”
From being the last pick in the 2022 draft deemed Mr. Irrelevant to now being a contender for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, Purdy has a lot to be thankful for.
He will be taking the spotlight this Sunday when the 49ers face off with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship giving the team a shot at the coveted Superbowl, as reported by Breitbart.
“The Lord is my rock, and I will not be shaken. I love you boys and will go to war with y’all time and time again,” Purdy wrote in an Instagram post earlier in his career.
Following the rookie’s first victory playing as quarterback for the 49ers last month, Purdy reasserted that he trusts in the Lord to guide him while playing.
“You go out there, you prepare as best you can, you get better every single day at practice, and once you get your opportunity, it’s: What are you going to do with it?” he said during the post-game press conference.
“For me,” the rookie said, “I believe in the Lord, and I trust in Him. I just go out there, and I just play.”
“You prepare as best as you can. You get better every single day at practice and once you get your opportunity, what are you going to do with it?”
