A Pennsylvania pizza shop owner pleaded guilty Monday to killing her business partner.
Anna Maria Tolomello, 50, of Hilltown Township, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder charges related to the death of Giovanni Gallina. The two owned Pina’s Pizzeria in Chalfont and were common law partners before his 2022 death.
According to police, Tolomello previously admitted to investigators that she shot Gallina and kept his body wrapped up in a tarp and comforter in her bedroom after shooting him on March 16, 2022.
A witness told police Tolomello called them and asked for help digging a hole in her yard so she could “bury one or more items.” The person, working with police, accepted money to dig the hole. While they dug, Tolomello was recorded telling the witness Gallina was “away.”
Gallina’s body was found inside the house during a later police search.
Tolomello originally claimed self-defense but Bucks County assistant district attorney Christopher Rees argued Gallina’s autopsy showed he was shot in the back of the head. The trial was set to begin Monday before she changed her plea.
She also admitted to investigators she disposed of evidence, including a bloody mattress and bullet shell casings.
Tolomello was originally charged with murder, possessing an instrument of a crime, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
As part of her guilty plea, she will face between18 to 40 years in state prison. Sentencing was deferred for 60 days.
