Iran initiated a massive onslaught over the weekend, unleashing over 300 missiles and drones towards Israel. Two videos over the weekend have since surfaced showing activists praise Iran following the attack.
During an anti-war conference in Chicago on Saturday, organizers provided instruction to hundreds of left-leaning activists on chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” in Farsi.
The event, which took place at the Teamsters Union’s headquarters, attracted around 300 individuals, according to reports from the Free Press. Organizers utilized the event to outline their strategies for disrupting the upcoming Democratic National Convention (Democratic National Committee) scheduled for August in Chicago.
The group also commemorated Iran’s launch of a drone and missile attack on Israel during the event.
Video footage captured the group, donned black N95 masks, gathered in a circle within the basement of the building.
“So I’m going to teach you a chant in Persian that you can use if you ever encounter those Zionist freaks, whether they be Iranian or whatever,” a man in the center of the group stated.
He then elaborated, “We all know what a margarita is, we all know what a bar is. So, you’re going to say, ‘Marg bar!’”
In unison, the crowd echoed, “Marg bar!”, signifying “death to” or “down with.”
Continuing the instruction, the man exclaimed, “Marg bar Israel!” Promptly, the group responded with fervor, chanting, “Marg bar Israel!”
One member of the group who was inquisitive about the meaning behind the phrase, sought clarification, leading another to ask if they could also express “marg bar America.” The group eventually erupted into cheers in response, chanting, “Marg bar America!”
In another video, Fox News reports that self-described anti-war Chicago activists cheered after learning that Iran had launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel.
“Twelve days ago, Israel brazenly hit an Iranian embassy compound in Syria, violating international law again… and Iran has just responded about 30 minutes ago,” the speaker said addressing the assembled group.
The group erupted into cheers in response to this announcement.
“They’ve sent, and this is from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard directly, they’ve sent drones and missiles against specific targets in occupied Palestine, Israeli targets in occupied Palestine,” the speaker continued, conveying the actions taken by Iran.
He then addressed reports of drones being fired on Israel, stating, “In addition, there are reports of drones having been fired on Israel from Yemen and Iraq as well.”
The room again resounded with cheers in response to this information.
The speaker emphasized the urgency of the situation and encouraged the group to mobilize, declaring, “this country and the world needs us,” and warning that the U.S. is poised to “defend the criminal Israeli state.”
The notion of U.S. intervention to protect Israel was met with audible disapproval from those in attendance, as they expressed their dissent through booing.
“We have to assume the United States is going to retaliate against Iran,” he asserted. “Our anti-war movement, all of the anti-war communities here and all of the Palestine support coalitions here, must be ready, immediately, to be out in the streets and to stop the U.S. from expanding this war on Iran.”
Resist The Mainstream reported on a similar story last week where crowds of Muslim protestors in Michigan shouted “death to America” and “death to Israel” on the last day of Ramadan.
