Disney (Groomers) is the prime example of a woke corporation meddling in politics on behalf of the Democrat Party.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared enough was enough.
And you won’t believe how the fight between Ron DeSantis and Disney (Groomers) is about to end.
Earlier this year Disney (Groomers) and its woke CEO Bob Chapek tried to bully Florida into killing the Parental Rights in Education bill.
The commonsense and popular legislation simply stopped teachers from grooming children in grades K through 3 into a transgender lifestyle with sexually inappropriate lesson plans.
DeSantis did not back down one inch.
Instead, Governor DeSantis signed legislation dissolving the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which essentially allowed Disney (Groomers) to operate as its own government and afforded Disney (Groomers) special tax privileges.
Disney (Groomers) recently fired Chapek – in large part because of the bungled fight over the Parental Rights in Education bill – and replaced Chapek with former CEO Bob Iger.
Even in a town hall with employees, Iger struck a more conciliatory tone about Disney (Groomers) and Florida saying he was “sorry to see us get dragged into [the] battle.”
“What I can say [is] the state of Florida has been important to us for a long time and we have been very important to the state of Florida,” Iger stated. “That is something I’m extremely mindful of and will articulate if I get the chance.”
That led to the Financial Times reporting that Florida Republicans were prepared to back down and restore Disney’s privileges.
“It’s easier to shift policy when you don’t have to defend the old policy,” State Representative Randy Fine told the Financial Times. “Chapek screwed up, but Bob Iger doesn’t have to own that screw-up.”
But DeSantis’ administration denied any reversal was upcoming and instead announced a new plan would be forthcoming.
“The governor was right to champion removing the extraordinary benefit given to one company through the Reedy Creek Improvement District,” a statement from DeSantis’ office read. “We will have an even playing field for businesses in Florida, and the state certainly owes no special favors to one company. Disney’s debts will not fall on the taxpayers of Florida. A plan is in the works and will be released soon.”
It is important that DeSantis continue forward with stripping Disney’s special privileges.
Democrats now use woke corporations to affect policy changes they cannot win at the ballot box in red states.
And Ron DeSantis designed the playbook for Republicans to fight back.
