I have tried to figure out Democrats and their loyalties to illegal immigrants, but I have given up after this latest little tidbit.
Republicans sponsored a bill in the Senate that would automatically call for the detaining of illegal immigrants who had been charged with violent crimes.
It sounds like common sense to keep criminal migrants out of this country, but Senator Durbin (D-IL) blocked the bill.
Leave Them Alone
Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) was hoping to push the legislation through via unanimous consent.
Unfortunately, only one exception is needed to block the bill, and Durbin was that guy.
Earnst explained the legislation, stating, “It would merely require ICE to detain, just to detain, otherwise deportable illegal immigrants charged with killing or seriously injuring another person.”
Durbin explained his position, saying that it would “deprive immigrants of the due process that everyone is afforded.”
What he did not do, however, was explain how an illegal immigrant is even worthy of due process as a legal migrant would when these people broke the law to come into the country in the first place.
Ernst’s bill is called Sarah’s Law, named after Sarah Root, who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant, Edwin Mejia.
This issue has taken on a life of its own after the alleged murder of Laken Riley at the hands of another illegal immigrant.
Riley’s alleged killer, as well as his brother, both had records but were set free by Joe Biden’s infamous catch-and-release program (which both Biden and Mayorkas refuse to admit is the case).
I have pounded this issue to death, and I will continue to do so until something is done about it.
Democrats have clearly put Americans and America on the back burner, instead advocating for illegal immigrants and funding border protection for countries like Ukraine.
They wonder why more middle-class Americans are resisting tax dollars that are going for everything but the well-being of Americans.
