Three headlines of note for Oregon candidates:
• Rep. Christine Goodwin lawsuit: A lawsuit has been filed challenging Oregon State Representative Christine Goodwin in her race for Senate District #2 to replace outgoing State Senator Art Robinson. The suit against State Representative Christine Goodwin claims she does not live in the senate district. At issue is the fact that Representative Christine Goodwin’s family owns multiple properties. Senator Art Robinson’s son, Noah Robertson, is running against Christine Goodwin in this Republican primary. Read more on Goodwin lawsuit here.
• Monique DeSpain endorsement: Republican Congressional district #4 candidate Monique DeSpain has been endorsed by U.S. Congressman Cliff Bentz. Candidate Monique DeSpain is running to unseat Democrat Congresswoman Val Hoyle who is suffering from many different political scandals and scrutiny (Val Hoyle’s vote against Laken Riley Act, Val Hoyle’s pot business scandal, Val Hoyle’s blocking investigation over her cell-phone, Val Hoyle’s racial case settlement, to name a few). In the contested Republican Primary for Congress district #4 Monique DeSpain faces candidate Amy Ryan Courser.
• Lori Chavez-DeRemer/Janelle Bynum/Jamie McLoed-Skinner race update: Interesting headline from the national Hill newspaper : “Democrats look to avert another embarrassment in Oregon House race”. The article speaks to the Democrat efforts to avoid a repeat loss to Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer by pushing the candidate Janelle Bynum instead of Jamie McLeod-Skinner in the Democrat Primary. The article notes the fundraising challenges of Bynum, McLoed Skinner have against Lori Chavez-DeRemer, “Still, Chavez-DeRemer has the fundraising edge, entering the year with around $1.6 million cash on hand. McLeod-Skinner has slightly outraised Bynum on the Democratic side, with around $242,000 cash on hand at the start of the year to Bynum’s $233,000.”
