Saturday Night Live’s cold open this weekend featured Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) placing Georgia Republican Party Senate candidate Herschel Walker in a panic room to avoid creating any additional controversies before Tuesday’s runoff election.
The seventh episode of the new season kicked off with James Austin Johnson’s McConnell discussing Walker’s often problematic candidacy with Mikey Day’s Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) and Cecily Strong’s Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). McConnell then calls Kenan Thompson’s Walker into the room.
“Hey there Mitch McDonald’s,” Walker says while greeting the Senate leader. “I’m sorry I am late, I was having too much fun in that free merry-go-round you have out front.”
“That’s a revolving door, Herschel,” McConnell replied before offering him a seat next to Blackburn.
