It’s every parents’ worst nightmare.
They sent their kids away to school, and then tragedy struck.
A bus carrying more than 40 preschoolers recently collided with a concrete truck and rolled over in Texas on March 22.
Authorities have already confirmed that at least two people died as a result of the accident.
Reports indicate that multiple people who were injured were airlifted to hospitals, but did not include an exact number that needed a helicopter.
The Hays Consolidated Independent School District released a statement indicating that the bus was involved in a “serious accident” while returning from a field trip to the zoo.
There were 44 students and 11 adults on the bus at the time of the accident, according to the school district.
This isn’t the first time that a school bus tragedy has occurred in America recently.
Just two days before the accident in Texas, a candlelight vigil was held in Illinois for the three children and two adults who had been killed when a school bus and a semi-trailer crashed into each other.
In that accident, the bus crossed into oncoming traffic “for unknown reasons.”
Police indicated that both vehicles were “engulfed in flames.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in both accidents.
