A Florida man has been arrested for kidnapping a girl he met on social media after police found her drugged and sexually battered at his home.
David Bunn, 37, has been charged with sexual battery on a child, interfering with the custody of a minor, and kidnapping, North Port Police said.
Bunn reportedly had a ride share bring the teen to his home.
Police said someone told them the girl might be at Bunn’s house when she didn’t come home. Initially, Bunn denied she was there, but police pushed their investigation and found her inside.
She told the officers that she was drugged, raped, and not allowed to leave.
North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison advised parents to keep their children off social media altogether or at least “keep track of who your children are talking to online.”
“We understand that it is not easy, but monsters like this are real, and they are closer than you might imagine,” he said.
Police said they believe it’s “possible” Bunn has other victims and asked anyone with information to call them at 941-429-7300.
