Thanks to President Joe Biden’s string of disastrous policies, Governor Ron DeSantis says Florida is no longer a swing state.
Under the governor’s Republican leadership, there has been a sizeable “shift” in the number of voters who are registering with the GOP.
“When I became governor of Florida had never had more registered Republicans than Democrats in state history,” DeSantis told Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo. “And we were close to 300,000 fewer Republicans and Democrats, this is 2018. Today, we have close to 900,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats. So you’re talking about a million-plus voter registration shift.”

“Part of that, I think is a response locally, where people are more likely to switch from Democrat to Republican in Florida, non-party to Republican than vice versa and that’s been an important component of it,” the governor said.
“But I do think that migration has skewed amongst people who come to Florida, not because they want to change the policies to reflect in Illinois, or California or New York, but because they appreciate how Florida has done it different from where they’re coming to,” he explained. “And so I think that’s contributed to this really record thing.”
Florida is different.
As property owners in blue states battle progressive policies that have allowed squatters to hijack their homes, DeSantis vowed to “end to the squatters scam” in the Sunshine State.
“While other states are siding with the squatters, we are protecting property owners and punishing criminals looking to game the system,” he stated in March.
With a freshly signed law from the governor’s desk, Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said police have the “teeth to enforce the law and to return the home to the rightful owner.”

Because of decisive action like that, DeSantis told Bartiromo, “Florida is off the board.”
“It is a Republican state,” he said. “You’ve covered politics. We used to be a one-point state, every election hung on how would Florida go.”
“That is not true anymore, the governor said. “And I think that’s a good thing for the party.”
Asked if he has any plans to launch a second bid for the White House in 2028, DeSantis replied, “I don’t have any plans for the future.”
“We’re focused a lot on all the great things we’re doing in Florida,” he said.
“I am very, very confident that Florida is going to be a strong performance for Republicans up and down the ticket,” DeSantis predicted. “We’ve worked very hard to bring it to this point, and I’m excited about that.”
As for the rest of the nation, the governor pointed to President Biden’s track record.
“He has caused the immigration problem with his policies,” DeSantis said. “He has exacerbated inflation with his big-spending policies. He caused the Afghanistan fiasco.”
“And I think people want to see a change,” he continued. “And so that’s what this country needs.”
“For Biden to get reelected with this record,” DeSantis added, “I think it would just be a disaster for this country.”
