Donald Trump arrived Thursday at a federal courthouse in Florida, where a judge will hear arguments on whether to dismiss the criminal case accusing the former president of hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after he left the White House.
The motorcade carrying the 2024 Republican presumptive presidential nominee arrived shortly before the hearing was set to begin before U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was nominated to the bench by Trump.
The dispute centers on the Trump team’s interpretation of the Presidential Records Act, which they say gave him the authority to designate the documents as personal and maintain possession of them after his presidency.
However, Special counsel Jack Smith claims the files are presidential records, not personal ones, and that the Presidential Records Act does not apply to the type of documents found at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
No charges were filed against Joe Biden, although he had classified documents stashed away in multiple locations, including the garage of his home in Delaware, from his time as a U.S. Senator and as vice president.
No cameras or other electronics are allowed in the courtroom Friday morning, as Trump awaits the judge’s decision on whether to dismiss the charges against him for retaining documents from his time as President of the United States.
No electronics in court, so it’s all old-fashioned pen and notepad once we’re inside. The TV networks have runners, ready to deliver updates throughout the day to our correspondents at cameras positioned outside

Trump is in Fort Pierce for his classified documents hearing.
And we are waiting a decision by Judge McAfee regarding whether or not he will disqualify Fani Willis from overseeing President Trump’s RICO case in Fulton County, GA!

President Trump has arrived for court in Florida. Trump’s lawyers will ask for Jack Smith’s documents charges to be dropped. The Presidential Records Act gave Trump the power to declassify. Biden didn’t possess this power. Biden wasn’t charged due to his name or mental condition. pic.twitter.com/cN9lz7U40a
