1. Little-known international NGO finalizing building code forcing US homes to be green:
Fox News – An international organization that develops model codes and standards for new construction is quietly preparing an energy conservation code that opponents argue is a backdoor climate initiative and will lead to higher home prices.
The International Code Council (ICC) — a Washington, D.C.-based group that regularly issues more than a dozen codes regulating new construction and impacting billions of people worldwide — is expected to finalize its 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) early next week. While previous IECCs received little opposition, the 2024 version has been widely criticized for prioritizing climate initiatives over energy efficiency.
“They’re incentivizing electrification and discriminating against the natural gas industry by excluding it from being part of the code,” Karen Harbert, the president and CEO of the American Gas Association (AGA), told Fox News Digital in an interview. “That really is anticompetitive behavior. If you are about energy efficiency, you should say, ‘We are about energy efficiency however you get there’ — being fuel neutral. But in this case, they are prescribing the way to get there, and it only includes electrification.”
Denny’s Insight: As if home ownership wasn’t already incredibly unattainable in 2024… let’s cripple the market with unnecessary ‘green’ regulations!
2. Deep State Attempts to Resurrect RussiaGate as Trump Gains Speed:
Breitbart – As former President Donald Trump began tightening his grip on becoming the Republican presidential nominee early this year, former intelligence officials began ramping up familiar rhetoric and fear-mongering among the American public — that he is pro-Russia and a vote for Trump is a vote for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The same players from “RussiaGate” — the failed deep state hoax to frame Trump for colluding with Russia to win in 2016 — are pushing the narrative, with some help from Never Trump allies who made their way into in the Trump administration.
Denny’s Insight: Yawn.
3. Trump Treasury Secretary Says He Will ‘Put Together A Group’ To Buy TikTok:
Daily Caller – Former Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin said during a Thursday CNBC appearance that he is seeking to purchase TikTok from its Chinese-based owner.
The House of Representatives passed the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which would require the social media app to be sold from ByteDance within about five months to continue operating in the U.S., by a 352-65 vote on Thursday. Mnuchin told “Squawk Box” co-host Andrew Ross Sorkin he felt the popular app should be sold and that he was assembling investors to buy the app.
Denny’s Question: What are your thoughts on Mnuchin’s initiative to form a group and buyout TikTok from the Chinese?
