A 58-year-old Long Island pediatrician died after falling from her family’s Airstream camper when the door popped open while her husband was towing it with a pickup truck on the highway.
Monika Woroniecka was thrown from the Airstream after hanging on to the door on State Route 12E near Watertown, New York around 3 p.m. Saturday.
Her family was in the Airstream while her husband towed it even though it is illegal to ride in one while it is traveling and Airstream advises against it.
After clinging to the door, Woroniecka fell and hit her head on the highway’s shoulder. She died from the impact.
The family was only 20 minutes from their home on Long Island.
State troopers are investigating the incident.
