PJ Media contributor Rabbi Michael Barclay claimed that “Christ is King” is a code phrase for hatred of Jews.
TENET Media reports that Barclay, who recently debated Candace Owens, claims that the phrase “is a dog whistle for a desire to harm Jews/hatred of Jews.”
Barclay says in the posted clip that “what has also happened in the last couple of months is another way of expressing Jew hatred.” He then introduces the phrase, followed by an explanation for how it’s antisemitic.
“Christ is King on the one hand is a very nice theological statement for Christians when it actually becomes a code word of ‘we hate Jews’ and ‘want to kill them,’” he said.
“So all these groypers all these families, these people who follow people like Jake Shields and Andrew Tates and Nick Feutes, Candace Owens, all these followers of them who will say ‘Christ is King,’ … what they really say on a certain level is kill the Jew,” he continued.
“I’m fine with Rob in Poise saying Christ is King because I know he believes it he lives by it,” Barclay explained. “But if you are saying it and don’t even understand that Jesus was born, lived, and died as a Jew then you’re an idiot. And a Jew hater.”
The phrase “Christ is King” being a dog whistle for antisemitism has been a trending topic over recent months. For example, Resist the Mainstream reported last month about a post on X from Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing right after Owens left the outlet that sparked backlash.
It was in response to a post from internet personality Andrew Tate in March that said “As a Muslim it warms my heart to see the resurgence of spirited Christian declarations. Christ is King.”
Boreing responded, “If you take your cues about morality from a man who uses sex to manipulate women into doing pornography for his profit, and then sells a course teaching others to do the same, all while lying about his wealth and boasting about his sexual conquests, you deserve the contempt he holds you in for being as foolish as he counts on you being.”
The post raised eyebrows because, as users on social media highlighted, out of all the posts circulating X at the time of Owen’s departure, Boreing chose to chime in on the one that included “Christ is King.”
During an X Space following the controversial post, speaker Lauren Chen said that “Christ Is King” is now even being portrayed as Jew-hatred by some people. She brought up past statements from Boreing acknowledging the statement “can be anti-Semitic,” then asked the CEO to comment.
“No one is saying ‘Christ Is King’ is a dog whistle per se,” but certainly “it can be,” Boreing retorted.
Nick Fuentes, speaking through a different account than his own, questioned Boreing further on this statement.
He alleged that The Daily Wire is an Israel-first company, contradicting earlier statements from Boreing by bringing up some past examples of Shapiro sharing ADL content.
