Bernie Moreno, one of the leading candidates for the Ohio Senate, believes former President Donald Trump will clinch the majority of Hispanic voters in the upcoming presidential elections.
Fox host Maria Bartiromo asked Moreno for his comments on a recent New York Times/Siena College poll that reveals most Hispanic American voters are leaning toward Trump, with 46 percent of the respondents favoring the former president. In 2020, Biden was able to sway Hispanic voters.
Moreno responded, “Well, I think that poll is exactly right. I think President Trump will win the Hispanic vote.” The leading contender won the Ohio Senate Republican primary race last week as he secured Trump’s backing.
Moreno, who hailed from South America, thinks that the majority of Latino voters believe Trump has the strongest capacity to deal with the immigration concerns, which is yet to be seen in November.
“As you know, I came here — from Colombia, South America, where I was born — legally. To watch Biden and [Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio)] reward[ing] people who break our laws that come into this country is infuriating. On top of that, the crime and chaos caused by illegal immigration hit predominantly Hispanic communities,” Moreno quipped.
The Ohio senate contender continued to lament Biden’s open border policy and said, “And they’re sick and tired of being abused and watching Biden cause the largest deaths of Hispanics.”
“The reality is, you have migrants that are crossing into Mexico into the U.S. that are being raped and killed. And all that is a result of Biden’s policies. Hispanics see it for what it is.”
The Biden campaign intends to flip the public’s opinion on immigration policy and blames Trump’s role for Congress’s failure to agree on border security.
However, the 84-year-old president fails to convince voters as the majority of them shift towards Trump.
A recent poll conducted by the American Principles Project revealed that Latino voters, particularly in Arizona and Nevada, are trending toward the GOP.
According to APP’s head of Hispanic Engagement, Alfonso Aguilar, “Joe Biden and Democrats should be very worried.”
“Although for years they have taken the Hispanic vote for granted, their far-left extremism is finally driving many Hispanics to reconsider Republican candidates like Donald Trump, who are closer to their values.”
Additionally, the survey found that 60 percent of the respondents support laws that ban male athletes from joining women’s sports, 57 percent support prohibiting gender correction among children, and 64 percent support a policy that requires schools to notify parents if their child wants to identify as transgender.
