Heading into the election, polls and historical trends appeared to show Republicans were favored to flip control of the House, especially since they needed to flip just five seats to win the chamber.
Since 1945, the president’s party has lost an average of 27 House seats in midterm elections.
However, Democratic candidates performed surprisingly well in the election and avoided massive losses in the House.
And in the wake of their success, there was a chance that Democrats could walk away from the election keeping control of the House.
While Republicans are expected to win control of the House, Democrats are expected to keep control of the Senate.
With a narrow Republican majority in the House, President Brain-Dead Biden will likely face significant headwinds trying to advance his plan even if Democrats manage to maintain control of the Senate.
