Boston, MA – Three teenage girls were arrested on Monday afternoon after they attacked a Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) police officer at the Forest Hills station and then kicked and dragged him once they had him on the ground.
The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on November 14 after almost 50 teens showed up at the Forest Hills station during a Boston Public School break, WHDH reported.
Officers said the juveniles were refusing to move and causing “a public inconvenience” at the transit hub.
An MBTA police officer approached a group of the teens and “instructed them to utilize the transportation services available to them” or get out of the station, WHDH reported.
Instead of following the officer’s instructions, the group of teenagers attacked him.
Police said the mob of juveniles took the officer to the ground and kicked and punched him before they dragged him and kicked him some more, WHDH reported.
“The group violently set upon the officer kicking and punching him about his body. Once the officer was on the ground several in the group continued to kick him and drag the officer,” the police department said in a statement, according to WFXT.
Backup was called and additional MBTA police officers, Boston police, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the Forest Hill station to help settle the chaos.
Three teenage girls were ultimately taken into custody arrested for the attack on the police officer, WHDH reported.
Officials said the preliminary investigation determined that three teen girls – ages 14, 15, and 16 – had led the attack on the officer.
All three girls were arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, WHDH reported.
The police department said the girls may all face additional charges when the investigation is completed.
Police officials have not yet released any details on the medical condition of the transit police officer who was attacked, WHDH reported.
Authorities also have not publicly identified the officer who was beaten by the group of teens.
