White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre raised eyebrows during a briefing late last month when she insisted that President Joe Biden “doesn’t need” to take a cognitive test.
The claim brought scoffs from critics, including podcast host Joe Rogan and conservative activist Christopher Rufo. They recently charged that Jean-Pierre was only hired to satisfy diversity requirements.Â
“She’s so bad at convincing people”
“She’s so bad at convincing people,” the Daily Mail quoted Rogan as saying. He also asserted that Jean-Pierre is “not the one” and”f–king terrible” at spinning the Biden administration’s agenda.
The podcast star went on to contend that the “hard-core, ideologically driven, left-wing pundits that are on YouTube” would do a better job as White House press secretary.
NEW: Joe Rogan says White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre is “f**king terrible” at her job and the worst press secretary in history.

For his part, Rufo attributed Jean-Pierre’s problems to the fact that she was chosen on the basis of her race and sexual preferences rather than her ability to perform.
“It’s what happens when you put identity over competence,” the conservative activist maintained. “This is our first black female, I don’t know LGBTQ, not really sure.”
Rufo says Jean-Pierre can’t be fired
What’s more, Rufo predicted that Jean-Pierre won’t be going anywhere despite her shortcomings since the White House fears being accused of racism or sexism.
“Well, you elevated this person for identity, you can’t fire that person because of incompetence,” Rufo said, adding that “the Harvard story is the exact phenomenon.”
That was a reference to how former Harvard University president Claudine Gay is continuing to receive a $9,000,000 salary despite her having resigned in the wake of allegations concerning plagiarism and antisemitism.
Although the outcoming college president and her supporters blamed the controversy on racism, many critics argued that Gray was only able to hang on to her job for as long as she did because of her status as an African American woman.
Jean-Pierre touted her race, other characteristics in first press conference
Fox News reported that Jean-Pierre highlighted her identity during her first press conference in May of 2022, stating, “I am obviously acutely aware that my presence at this podium represents a few firsts.”
“I am a black, gay, immigrant woman, the first of all three of those to hold this position,” the White House press secretary continued.
Jean-Pierre concluded by saying, “I would not be here today if it were not for generations of barrier-breaking people before me. I stand on their shoulders.”
