America First Legal (AFL), which is headed by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller, is at it again.
Miller has been a thorn in this administration’s side since day one, and he just hit the Biden administration again.
AFL has filed a suit calling out the administration for allegedly deleting email files, a violation of federal law.
You Can’t Do That
In this country, all records of the administration, and this would include communications such as emails, are supposed to be preserved for the National Archives.
According to Miller, that has not been happening with the Biden administration.
Miller’s lawsuit accused the Health and Human Services Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of being in violation of the Federal Records Act.
Dan Epstein, the AFL Vice President, stated, “If the National Archives decides not to use the legal authorities it has regarding federal records, it certainly shouldn’t make up legal authority that it doesn’t have when it comes to presidential records.
“We expect our government to act in a transparent and accountable way and exercise equanimity when it decides to investigate certain allegations. We clearly haven’t seen that in this case.”
To this point, AFL maintains that lower-level employees were having their email files deleted 30 days after having left their post, with only senior officials’ records being kept once they left.
Miller’s groups compared these actions to those taken by the National Archives against Trump.
Epstein stated, “You have maybe tens of thousands of government records every year that are destroyed without authority.
“But when it comes to Donald Trump, he gets prosecuted. Everyone else who doesn’t have to stand for election gets a free pass.”
Sadly, we all know how this all plays out. With Democrats running the Department of Justice, nothing will happen for what appears to be a clear violation of the law.
Unfortunately, Democrats seem to get away with whatever they want these days, while the DOJ seems ready to prosecute Republicans if they so much as forget to cover their mouths when they cough.
