There have been concerning updates from the capital of our nation. In the early hours of the morning, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Republican leaders unveiled a $1.2 trillion spending bill. This bill spans over 1,000 pages and contains excessive expenditures.
House representatives have been instructed to get ready for a vote scheduled for Friday morning. This action would go against the 72-hour rule, which mandates that the content of a bill must be disclosed at least 72 hours prior to a vote.
“It is total lack of backbone, total lack of leadership and a total failure by Republican leadership,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) told Steve Bannon. “I don’t even have words for any Republican that votes for this bill. I promise you I will not be going out and supporting any Republican who votes for this bill for any position, ever again.”
The proposed legislation signifies a complete abandonment of efforts to secure the southern border. Additionally, it contains several other objectionable provisions. For instance, $400,000 of taxpayer funds are allocated to Briarpatch Youth Services, an organization that provides gender-mutilation clothing to 13-year-old children without parental consent.
If the House of Representatives is not given a minimum of 72 hours to review this excessive spending bill, a motion to vacate the chair should be made. If the GOP fails to demonstrate fiscal responsibility, their ability to lead is questionable.
It is imperative to contact your elected representatives in Congress and urge them to vote against the spending bill, even if it leads to a government shutdown. The time for tolerance of such actions has passed.
