An airport executive at Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, was shot by federal agents as they raided his home earlier this week.
Bryan Malinowski, who had served as a Clinton Airport executive for 16 years, was shot in the head by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in an alleged gunfight last Tuesday.
According to ATF officials’ report, they were attempting to serve a search warrant at Malinowski’s home early in the morning when they were fired upon Malinowski. Returning the fire, the authorities fired upon the airport executive multiple times.
One agent was wounded and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
However, Malinowski’s brother wasn’t convinced by the ATF agents’ explanation, as he questioned the intent to serve a search warrant at such an early time of the day.
“The ATF should have never raided him like they did. You don’t send a whole group of people with high-armed weapons like they did at 6:00 in the morning,” Matt Malinowski said.
“Arrest him at work! He goes to work every day. He’s a very public figure.”
Furthermore, Bryan’s brother slammed the ATF for shooting the airport executive in the head.
“They went for a kill shot,” described Matt regarding the manner in which the federal authorities fired upon his brother.
“I did see that they shot five times, and they were shooting to hurt, and Bryan did shoot back at them. He was aiming for the shins, a non-lethal shot.”
“One of the rounds went through about three or four walls,” he added.
The search warrant was heavily redacted, and the ATF did not explain the nature of the raid.
Reporters asked the US Attorney’s Office to unseal the documents related to Malinowski’s death and the warrant, but it declined to comment other than that these documents remain under seal.
Criminal defense attorney David Gelman expressed alarm at the ATF’s refusal to release information on the search warrant.
In a statement, Gelman told Fox News Digital, “I think the more concerning thing is that they still haven’t released any info about what they were even doing out there for a 6 a.m. raid.”
“You know how fast the U.S. Attorney’s Office loves a press conference. Normally, they would have already justified it with a copy of the warrant. Still nothing.”
“There must have been probable cause to believe there was evidence of some crime inside the residence,” the former prosecutor explained.
“Thus, the need to execute a search warrant at that location.”
Meanwhile, Arkansas State Police are still investigating the shootout.
The shooting happened days after the airport executive met with Arkansas congressional lawmakers in Washington, D.C.
“A delegation from the airport was in Washington, D.C., last week to meet with Arkansas representatives and their staff to discuss their priorities for the airport. We will continue to monitor this ongoing situation,” wrote a statement to Fox News Digital from Arkansas’ House delegation.
