Folk fogey Neil Young’s failed protest earned “congratulations” from Joe Rogan in latest last laugh against the COVID cult.
In January 2022, the “Old Man” singer posted and deleted a letter to his own management after finding himself miffed by “COVID misinformation” shared by Rogan on his number one Spotify podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
Two years later, his ultimatum of, “They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young, Not both,” proved little more than bluster prompting some serious snark from the commentator during a discussion with scholar James Lindsay.
Landing on COVID mandates by way of the open border crisis, the guest had brought up how the world’s top tennis player Novak Djokovic had been prohibited from competing in the United States for choosing not to subject himself to the mRNA injection, reminding Rogan about the latest in Young’s stand against “disinformation.”
“By the way, Neil Young came back to Spotify. Congratulations, Neil. And his excuse was he said that because all of the platforms are now allowing my disinformation, so just let him go back on Spotify too,” the host remarked before adding, “Great to know you’ve got some ethics.”

“Well, everybody’s doing it these days,” added Lindsay, “disinformation.”
Earlier in the week, Young had released a statement explaining his move returning to the platform that read in part, “My decision comes as music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast features I had opposed at Spotify.”
“I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify, in sincere hopes that Spotify sound quality will improve and people will be able to hear and feel all the music as we made it,” he added.
He had griped in 2022, “With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, JRE [the Joe Rogan Experience] which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence. Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy.”
Dr. Robert Malone, whose work was integral in the invention of the mRNA vaccine technology employed in COVID jabs and whose interview with Rogan at the time was considered part of the catalyst that triggered the musician, had also criticized the likes of Young for closed-mindedness.
“Not once had Neil Young or Joni Mitchell ever reached out to discuss their concerns,” he said in a scathing essay against those parroting talking points. “The once-rebels have turned into the status-quo. No better than their fathers or mothers or big government.”
Others piled on in ridiculing the artist over the “irrelevant” return to Spotify.

Neil Young mouthing off about his supposed principles and then surreptitiously going back to Spotify for the cash is the most boomer thing ever.

“It’s better to cash out than to fade away,”– Neil Young, probably.

Neil Young is back on Spotify after an absence of 2 years because he was protesting Joe Rogan. Guess what Neil? You’re still a liberal piece of Shit and you’re still irrelevant.

Young is out of money and has virtually relevance. No fan base means all your money is royalties – this is your only revenue stream.

The bills did not go away for Neil Young and his lame protest.
They don’t pay themselves.
