The District of Columbia, under Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser, will deny children an education this year if they have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. Never mind that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s revised guidelines are now the same for fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
The shocking development also comes amid rising concerns about the vaccine’s impact on mortality and the understanding that it does not prevent a person from contracting the virus or from spreading it to others.
Bowser does not appear to have a contingency plan for unvaccinated students, who are banned from attending schools in person this fall after the first 20 days, according to The Daily Signal.
“[A]ll students must have up-to-date immunization certification on file with the school within the first 20 school days or they will not be allowed to attend school or school activities until the immunization certification is secured by the school,” said the Office of the State Superintendent of Education for D.C.
“If the student does not come into compliance within a 20-school day period, the school must remove the student from school until the immunization certification is secured by the school,” the office added.
The mayor said during a press conference Thursday that there are no alternative options, ruling out virtual learning — a decision that impacts black children most.
“We’re not offering remote learning for children, and families will need to comply with what is necessary to come to school,” Bowser said.
“Updated data from the government’s vaccine numbers website shows 47% of the black children in the district ages 12-15 had not completed their primary vaccination series necessary to go back to school in person,” the Daily Signal reported. “Among black teens aged 16-17, 42% are unvaccinated.”
When Daily Signal reporter Douglas Blair confronted the mayor with this reality last week, she questioned the accuracy of the numbers as seen here:

The Democrat was lit up on social media over the reckless direction DC is taking on the issue — here’s a quick sampling of responses from Twitter:

There was a time in America when Democrats denied Black children the right to a quality education because of their skin color. Now, Democrats are denying children in a majority-minority city the fundamental right to a quality education because of their vaccination status. https://t.co/0U3YVYl2gn

This is so so wrong. The Mayor and DC officials backing this policy do not care about the importance of kids’ education. It’s about compliance with arbitrary and unjust rules of the state. https://t.co/So4u5hY5lU

Some 40% of Black DC public school students 12-17 will be refused education under this policy, which aims to coerce them into taking an injection that does not prevent viral transmission or infection, and which requires constant boosting. Welcome to actual vaccine apartheid. https://t.co/pPuWvnTB85

This is actually evil.
But this is today’s democrat party, they fail Americans day after day. And to make it worse, they don’t have school choice there, so Mayor Bowser is ensuring this generation will be left behind and forced into poverty https://t.co/GylevD4d7Q

Shots don’t stop transmission or infection.
There is absolutely no reason to mandate them for anyone
Kids have less risk of dying than any other demo.
Mandates for them are obscene.
