ISIS appears to be threatening to attack Russia again.
A poster circulating on social media suggests the terrorist group could target Russians a second time, just days after at least 137 people were killed at the Crocus Center in Moscow, Knewz.com has learned.
According to Newsweek, the poster has appeared on Iranian media, citing Al Azaim, a propaganda group of IS-Khorasan, and threatens Russia President Vladimir Putin with another attack.
“ISIS reportedly threatens Putin with another terrorist attack,” Ukrainian internal affairs advisor Anton Gerashchenko wrote on X in a post that shows the poster. “Iranian media, citing Al Azaim, an IS-Khorasan propaganda network in Tajikistan, is circulating a poster with threats against Putin in protest against the torture of terrorists by Russian security forces.”
“This information hasn’t been verified,” he added.
The poster shows a man with all but his eyes covered pointing a knife. According to Newsweek, the poster is headlined in Russian language: “Threat to all cruel Russians, including Putin.”
The poster’s message continues: “Be warned, do not think that we do not have the opportunity to avenge our brothers held hostage. With Friday’s attack, we showed you that with the permission of Allah, the mujahadeen of the Islamic State can punish you for your savagery.”
The Daily Star reported the poster continued, “Torture of captured Mujahideen in your name and publication of their videos increases your bloodlust for thousands of their brothers. This time, let’s hit you so hard on the head that future generations, God willing, will remember you and these past pains and wounds will be forgotten. Yes! Very heavy, deadly, bloody, stabbing, burning and devastating blows. Wait! Expect a massacre, God willing. Very soon, God willing.”
According to BBC News, Russia has charged four men with committing an act of terrorism in connection to the concert hall attack. They appeared in court on Monday, March 25 and appeared to have been bruised and beaten. According to Newsweek, citing Russian media TASS, all four suspects have pleaded guilty.
While ISIS has taken credit for the attack, Russian officials have suggested that Ukraine is somehow involved.
For example, Gerashchenko shared a video clip on X in which Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev is asked who was behind the terrorist attack.
“ISIS or Ukraine?” he is asked. His reply is, “Of course, Ukraine!”
According to Gerashchenko, Putin said the attack was “a link in a series of attempts of those who is at war with Russia since 2014 through the hands of Kyiv regime.”
As Knewz.com reported on Monday, March 25, the four suspects were subject to vicious torture before showing in court. One man reportedly had an ear cut off and was forced to eat part of it.
A Moscow judge ordered all four suspects held until at least Wednesday, May 22. Seven other suspects in the attack await their own hearing.
All four suspects were identified as citizens of Tajikistan, the former Soviet republic bordering Afghanistan. Russian authorities named the suspects as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, 32, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, 30, Shamsidin Fariduni, 25, and Muhammadsobir Fayzov, 19.
Kremlin officials are not commenting on the court appearance or how the suspects look, according to The Independent newspaper in Britain.
A video posted on social media purports to show Fariduni along a road, explaining his story to authorities.
He claimed he was paid $5,400 by an unknown person to travel from Turkey to Moscow and shoot people during a Friday night concert.
The anti-Russian website Charter 97 reported one of the suspects visited Crocus City Hall “shortly before the attack,” but was not stopped.
The Islamic State group ISIS-K claims it was behind the attack, with a report from Afghanistan saying Crocus City Hall in the suburb of Krasnogorsk had a large gathering of “Christians.”
