President Donald Trump hauled $8 million in a recent campaign fundraiser hosted by billionaire attorney Dan Newlin in his home in Orange County last Wednesday.
According to Newlin, supporters with no tickets filled the streets to express their support for Trump.
“The streets of Keene’s Pointe were lined with enthusiastic supporters, and their unwavering presence extended all the way down [State Road] 535.”
The fundraising event is among the string of efforts organized by the GOP campaign to close the money gap against Biden.
Last March, Biden had already reported bagging $71 million, according to its latest Federal Election Commission filing. At this point, Biden’s campaign funds are already twice the MAGA leader’s election money.
“I’ve been working very closely with the Trump campaign, I’m a big supporter,” Newlin remarked.
“When it was brought up that they’d like to have an event in Orlando, they said Dan would you like to host it and I said absolutely. This has been an ongoing process and we’re really excited about making this happen.”
“It is truly one of the greatest honors of my life,” Newlin said of hosting the fundraiser.
“As a strong supporter of President Trump, I admire his commitment to bringing the United States back to its former glory and his efforts in achieving global peace. I am particularly inspired by his dedication to combating the drug crisis and ensuring the safety of our communities. President Trump exemplifies strong leadership, and I am proud to support him.”
According to the invitation, the host committee sponsorship level is worth $824,700, while a roundtable is worth $100,000. Meanwhile, a reception with photo opportunities with Trump costs $25,000.
The veteran Orlando attorney said in an interview before the fundraiser that about 150 guests had confirmed to attend the activity.
“It is so important that we raise as much money as we can to help support President Trump,” Newlin emphasized.
He added, “There’s an 8-month or 9-month runway in front of us.”
“There’s a lot of work that has to be done and I’m going to give all of my energy to do whatever is necessary to get victory for President Trump in November.”
University Central Florida Political Science Professor Aubrey Jewett remarked, “Money is not the only thing that matters in an election, but it is one of the most important things.”
“The Trump team is definitely geared up,” Jewett said.
“They definitely have their work cut out for them. They know that if they want to have their best chance of winning they have to try to catch up in the fundraising with Joe Biden.”
Before the Orlando event, the former president attended another fundraiser in Atlanta, where he is expected to rake in $5 million.
