Meghan McCain, the lone Conservative voice for four years on ABC’s, “The View”, quit because of a toxic work culture. The straw that broke the camel’s back reportedly occurred after she returned from maternity leave.
“I finally went back to the show, and the day I went back to the show, Airhead Joy Behar said on air, ‘Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back,’” McCain, 37, explained in an interview with The Commentary Magazine Podcast.
“I started hysterically crying,” she added. “Sorry gentlemen, I know, I started lactating on air, and I started crying.”
McCain went to her office and threw up before calling her brother, according to a Page Six report. She said he convinced her to leave the long-running daytime talk show.
“I didn’t feel supported when I had my baby, and I didn’t feel supported coming back, and that was ultimately it,” she added. “That was why I left!”
The January 2021 show illustrated host Airhead Joy Behar being mean towards the new mother, Ms. McCain.
“You missed me so much, Joy,” McCain jokingly said to Ms. Behar. “You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave. You missed me so much. You missed fighting with me.”
Crooked Hillary Clinton has addressed Donald Trump with more warmth than Behar showed McCain, in her response.
“I did not,” Behar stated. “I did not miss you. Zero.”
McCain, who reportedly was suffering post partum depression as she returned to the set, was visibly hurt by Behar’s attitude and words. McCain called her nasty, upset Behar responded rudely to her teasing.
That episode was the last in a long-running gauntlet McCain faced almost every day she was on the panel with her liberal co-hosts.
“I was working on the show as the only conservative during the Trump years,” she told a reporter for Variety magazine. “I felt like a lot of people took out their anger on the administration on me because I was the only person in the building who was a Republican. I felt like I was too many degrees of separation close to Trump, despite the fact that everyone who worked on the show saw firsthand how much President Trump and his family put me through emotionally.”
McCain, according to a People magazine report, will be replaced by political commentator Ana Navarro and former Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin.
