Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein’s accusers howled on Thursday as New York’s highest court overturned his 2020 rape conviction while the political persecution of former President Trump continues.
“Douglas H. Wigdor, who represented two of the witnesses at the New York trial, called the court’s decision a ‘step back in holding those accountable for acts of sexual violence,” the Daily Mail reported.
“Courts routinely admit evidence of other uncharged acts where they assist juries in understanding issues concerning the modus operandi or scheme of the defendant. The jury was instructed on the relevance of this testimony and overturning the verdict is tragic in that it will require the victims to endure yet another trial,” he asserted.
Outrage poured in from women over the conviction being overturned despite the fact that Weinstein, 72, will have to remain in prison on other charges. He will also reportedly be forced to go through another trial concerning the original charges against him.

One of Weinstein’s accusers, actress Katherine Kendall, claimed she was “flabbergasted” over the ruling.
She told the New York Times in an interview it was “a terrible reminder that victims of sexual assault just don’t get justice. I’m completely let down by the justice system right now.”
“The court found the judge at the landmark #MeToo trial prejudiced the ex-movie mogul with ‘egregious’ improper rulings, including a decision to let women testify about allegations that weren’t part of the case,” the Daily Mail noted.
“We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the court ruled in a 4-3 decision. “The remedy for these egregious errors is a new trial.”
The rape conviction of movie producer Harvey Weinstein, whose prosecution started the #MeToo movement, has been overturned by New York’s highest court, where the court declared he didn’t receive a fair trial.

Actress Ashley Judd also told the New York Times, “We still live in our truth. And we know what happened.”
Sarah Kelly, a spokesperson for Weinstein accuser Annabella Sciorra, issued a statement as well, “But this ruling does not diminish the validity of our experiences or our truth; it’s merely a setback. The man found guilty continues to serve time in a California prison. When survivors everywhere broke their silence in 2017, the world changed. We continue to stand strong and advocate for that change. We will continue to fight for justice for survivors everywhere.”
Enter the Manhattan district attorney’s office, vowing, “We will do everything in our power to retry this case, and remain steadfast in our commitment to survivors of sexual assault.”
Weinstein had been serving a 23-year sentence for these particular charges which include a criminal sex act for forcibly performing oral sex on a TV and film production assistant in 2006 and a rape in the third degree involving an aspiring actress in 2013. He is also currently serving a 16-year sentence for a rape committed in 2022 and is incarcerated in New York at the Mohawk Correctional Facility.
There was a ton of reaction on X over Weinstein’s conviction being overturned and many of them had to do with Trump being persecuted:
President Trump is on trial for Stormy Daniels for the second time after the statute of limitations has expired and after Stormy Daniels signed a statement saying they didn’t have an affair.

Trump is facing more than 100 years in jail for labeling payments made to his lawyer “legal fees” instead of “hush money payments”, meanwhile Harvey Weinstein’s conviction is being overturned. You can get away with anything in NY unless your name is Trump. pic.twitter.com/Rc99Kmycxl
