After receiving a legal “cease and desist” letter from Turning Point USA, it would seem that the ladies of ‘The View’ were suddenly inspired to give an on-air apology.
But only kind of.
On Wednesday’s episode, co-host Sara Haines issued a “note” about the neo-Nazi comments that had been made earlier in the week. It was their version of an apology, dressed up as “clarification.”
“I have a note. On Monday we talked about the fact there were openly neo-Nazi demonstrators outside the student action summit of the Turning Point USA group. We want to make clear these demonstrators were gathered outside the event and that they were not invited or endorsed by Turning Point USA. A Turning Point USA spokesman said the group, 100% condemns those ideologies and said Turning Point USA security tried to remove the neo-nazis from the area, but could not because they were on public property. Also, Turning Point USA wanted to clarify — wanted us to clarify this was a Turning Point USA summit and not a Republican Party event. So we apologize for anything we said that may have been unclear on these points,” Haines said.
The comments were made on Monday by co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who accused TPUSA of being “complicit” with the neo-Nazi group by “let[ting] them in,” though the clarification notes that Goldberg got that fact wrong.

This problematic statement led TPUSA to issue a legal notice to ‘The View’ warning them to cease making defamatory comments about the group.
“The false statements of fact intentionally made during The View’s July 25th segment were unquestionably harmful to TPUSA’s reputation and brought the organization and its student affiliates into disrepute with the public, potential donors, and current and future business partners, posing a significant loss to the organization,” Peterson wrote.
“The View (of Liberal Idiots) hosts intentionally and falsely associated TPUSA with neo-Nazi protesters outside the event placing TPUSA in denigrating and false light and negatively impacting its public perception,” she went on. “Such action will not be tolerated.”

But ‘The View’s version of an apology didn’t sit right with a lot of people:
She probably refused

Why did the gal that didn’t say it issue the apology?

“May have been unclear” = “We said what you heard us say, but our lawyers made us walk it back…a little bit.”

Until I see a multi million dollar settlement, apology not accepted

Why didn’t Whoopi give the apology? Metaphorically.

Lmao they made the white chick apologize

This is how media deception often works. They will never reach the same audience with a “retraction” or correction after the initial lie. 🤡

They say “unclear” when someone honest would say “not true”.

“So on Monday we openly slandered TPUSA. But then on Tuesday, when our attorneys informed us of the lawsuits we would likely be looking at for telling those bald faced lies, we decided to walk it all back. So … nevermind.”

I would have thought that this was Whoopi`s job! 🧐
