Another participant of the January 6th Capitol Riots has been found guilty.
Rally Runner, who used to go by the name Daniel Donnelly Jr., has admitted defeat.
According to Runner’s legal attorney Scott Rosenblum, Runner “wanted to accept responsibility and move on with the next chapter of his life.”
Now, Runner has pleaded guilty to civil disorder.
Civil disorder can land you a maximum of five years behind bars, three years of probation, and up to a quart of a million dollars in fines.
Runner’s sentencing will not be until the end of July 2024.
Pleading guilty may very well have been Runner’s best option.
In a Facebook video Runner posted the day of the riots, you can hear him discussing his plan of action.
“I get a riot shield. and I’m not trying to cause any violence, but I’m trying to be the furthest person to get through all the way, or at least get the furthest,” Runner said in the video.
So, now that he has pleaded guilty, Runner has officially joined the hundreds of other Americans who have already been charged for their crimes participating in the January 6th Capitol Riots.
Even if Runner gets the maximum penalty for his crimes, he should count himself lucky.
Some were sentenced to a LOT more than five years behind bars.
Does anyone remember the case of Enrique Tarrio?
Tarrio was the chairman of the Proud Boys, a right-leaning group.
He was sentenced to over twenty years in a federal prison for his involvement in the January 6th riots.
Attorney General Merrick B. Garland released a statement after learning of Tarrio’s sentencing.
“Today, the leader of the Proud Boys, Enrique Tarrio, learned that the consequence of conspiring to oppose by force the lawful transfer of presidential power is 22 years in federal prison,” Garland said.
Where do you stand on the cases brought against those involved in the riots?
