New polling shows black voters are flocking to support former President Donald Trump and, according to one conservative religious leader, they simply cannot “afford” to vote for President Biden.
The voting bloc continues to move away from the president amid his failing policies and a New York Times/Siena poll out this month gives a grim picture for Democrats. Trump saw 23% support from black voters in the survey conducted at the end of February. This number is an obvious leap from the 4% black voter support he had in 2020.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson accused the Democrat Party of abandoning black voters as he discussed the surging support for Trump with Fox News anchor Trace Gallagher on Monday.
“Even if I was black enough, I couldn’t afford to vote for Joe Biden this time, and I hear it is all over, everywhere I go,” said the radio host and founder of BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny.
“For a long time, blacks… were committed to the Democratic Party. That’s no longer the case because the Democrats have clearly tossed blacks to the side, and they’re not looking out for them anymore,” he added on “Fox News @ Night,”
“They just want the vote, and so Black people are starting to feel the economic crisis,” Peterson said.
He pointed to Biden’s disastrous economic and immigration policies for the change in voting.
“It’s the economy, it’s the borders,” Peterson said.
“What is not being talked about [is] a lot of these the aliens are coming in and they are ending up in the black communities… in the schools. The gang violence between the black gangs and Hispanic gangs and other gangs that are coming in is out of control,” he told Gallagher.
Former HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson also discussed the shift on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
Besides the obvious policy differences between Trump and Biden and the myriad other issues affecting voters, black or white, Carson contended that there is another characteristic of the former president that draws voters.
“You don’t have to wonder what he’s thinking. He tells you what he’s thinking,” he told host Jesse Watters. “He’s truthful. It may not always be what you want to hear…it gives you a sense of at least you know where you stand.”
“According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released in January, Biden’s support among Black voters has fallen to just 63%, down from the 92% that Pew Research Center data shows he won in the 2020 presidential election. His support among Hispanic voters is down to 34% from 59%,” Fox News reported.
Voters were “wiped out” under Biden, according to Peterson who contended black voters have been repeatedly let down by Democrats.
“The blacks don’t have anyone to represent them so you starting to hear a lot of that speak out now about what’s really happening,” he told Gallagher.
“Even my own family members, I never imagined that they would be voting for Donald Trump. They’re saying yes to Trump now,” he said.”It started really with Obama. A lot of blacks saw that Obama would do more for them, but he didn’t get jobs. He didn’t provide for them, and under Joe Biden, it just wiped them out.”
“They cannot afford to vote for Joe Biden anymore,” Peterson concluded.
