A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

Scheherazade: Behind the Scene of Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra
We have posted music by the Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra on a couple of occasions in the past two years or so. Today, I’d like to post some more of their music. These young men and women hail from the secondary school, Gimnazija Kranj in Kranj, Slovenia. As an orchestra they are second to none.
The Maestro Nejc Becan is their conductor.
Let’s start with a video going behind the scenes to give us an idea what putting on a symphony orchestra show entails.
Gershwin: An American in Paris – Stunning Performance
Next, we’ll hear their rendition of Gershwin’s An American in Paris.
It truly is a stunning performance as you can visualize the hustle and bustle of the streets and the automobile horns as you listen.
Stairway to Heaven with Amazing Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra
I’ll follow that with a couple of shorter pieces.
First, they play Stairway To Heaven.
Godfather with Gimnazija Kranj Symphony Orchestra
Finally, they play Nino Rota’s Godfather Theme.
I hope that you have enjoyed their music, as we will play some more of their selections in the weeks to come.
Beethoven Sonata # 14 “Moonlight” Op. 27 No. 2 Valentina Lisitsa
This is the original complete recording of the Sonata the way it was meant to be.
Back in those days there was a 10 minutes file limit and therefore I had to split performance in 2 parts. The 3rd movement went viral while the first file did not. Enjoy!
I think when performed complete the concept of the performance is different.
00:01 I. Adagio sostenuto
05:17 II. Allegretto
07:35 III. Presto agitato
The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
