There’s serious money in the business of trafficking illegal immigrants; look no further than the growing number of NPOs in New York City clamoring for tax dollars.
According to the city, more than 189,000 migrants have arrived in the Big Apple since the Spring of 2022, with more than 64,000 currently in the city’s care. A solid number of these illegal immigrants turned out at City Hall on Tuesday to apparently ratchet up pressure on the Democrat-run government to loosen the purse strings and provide them with accommodations to their liking.

The New York Post reported that well over a thousand African migrants gathered outside City Hall for a hearing on “the black experience in the city shelter system,” but only 250 people were allowed inside.
The Post also reported that some of the migrants, largely new arrivals from Guinea, in West Africa, said they were promised work visas or green cards if they showed up.

Meanwhile, the City Council has grown tired of Mayor Eric Adams’ response to the migrant crisis on Tuesday and has “formed its own team of advisors who will draw up a blueprint to help the city deal with its thousands of newcomers,” Spectrum News NY1 reported.
The group will be known as the “New Arrival Strategy Team” and will focus on shelter, housing, culture, language access, health, legal services, and labor, according to the outlet.
“I’m proud to form the New Arrivals Strategy Team, bringing together government experts and other critical stakeholders,” Speaker Adrienne Adams said in a statement. “I look forward to their work crafting a roadmap that can move our city in the right direction and help our partners in government and the non-profit sector better serve newcomers and longtime residents alike.”

New York Immigration Coalition, African Communities Together, and the New Immigrant Community Empowerment will participate to ensure “long-term” success for illegal immigrants.
“The City Council’s New Arrivals Strategy Team is an important effort to finally move away from a short-sighted emergency response, and into one where we truly support the long-term success and vitality of asylum seekers and immigrants in New York,” said Murad Awawdeh, President and CEO, New York Immigration Coalition.
As for Mayor Adams, he was interrupted Tuesday morning by protesters unhappy with his treatment of tenants while delivering a speech to community activists on the Upper East Side.
Protestors just rushed the stage where NYC Mayor Eric Adams is speaking today.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
Couldn’t happen to a better place. Why doesn’t mayor come out and talk to them?

American will be completely unrecognizable within a single generation. We have been conquered without a single shot fired. All it took was 535 criminal sellouts enriching themselves.

I hope they give the NYC bureaucrats a good taste of the mess the Left has unleashed on all of us— Jim Hanson (@JimHansonDC) April 16, 2024
The homeless should protest next for never being offfered luxury hotels even though many are citizens and even paid into taxes for a good part of their lives.

Reality is setting in for them.
The temporary life of luxury has halted.
Now they’ll be angry, disappointed, and unleashed on American communities.
