Former President Donald Trump, addressing a campaign rally in Rome, Georgia, on Saturday, reminisced about his rise to political prominence and revisited controversies surrounding allegations made against him.
Trump recounted his move to political prominence from the moment he descended the escalator in Trump Tower alongside the former first lady, as he criticized Hillary Clinton.
Trump campaign rally on Saturday: “We went to number one, and we never left. And then we had to beat Crooked. I don’t call [Clinton] Crooked anymore. I use that term for Joe, Joe is crooked, and I don’t call Hillary anything. I don’t even think about her anymore, to be honest.” pic.twitter.com/RW5OEOh9Uo

He highlighted his sustained popularity since then and referenced his victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.
In his remarks, Trump also addressed allegations made by writer E. Jean Carroll against him, reiterating his assertion that her accusations were false.
He mentioned the substantial bond he posted this week as part of his appeal against a defamation verdict stemming from Carroll’s claims.
Emphasizing his denial of the allegations, Trump lamented being sued for defamation after refuting Carroll’s account.
The former president contested the validity of Carroll’s claims, stating that he had no prior knowledge of her and dismissing her assertions as baseless.
Central to the ongoing legal dispute are Carroll’s allegations of rape against Trump, purportedly occurring in a New York department store dressing room in the 1990s.
While a jury did not hold Trump liable for the alleged rape, he was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll, resulting in a $5 million civil judgment against him.
Another case focused on Trump’s remarks about Carroll while in office, leading to a separate defamation verdict against him. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that Trump’s comments cast doubt on Carroll’s story and warranted damages, ultimately assessed at $83.3 million.
Trump continues to face other legal battles, now forgetting about Clinton as he deals with Carroll and other cases.
