Whoopi Goldberg blasted Republicans on this morning’s episode of The View, passionately responding to the right’s question of if Americans were better off four years ago, when Donald Trump was still in office.
The Hot Topics chat began as the panelists discussed the scores of Republicans using the four year question as a campaign tactic to try and boost Trump’s popularity.
The question has been posed so often that President Joe Biden posted a response on X in late March, sharing a video responding to Trump asking Americans, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?”
The clip from Biden, which was captioned on X, “Donald, I’m glad you asked,” showed images of empty shelves and hospitals interspersed with clips of Trump’s press conferences during the early days of the pandemic, including his line about possibly injecting bleach and his response when a reporter mentioned the rising number of deaths from the disease: “It is what it is.”
When she chimed in with her take at the end of the segment, Goldberg got heated about the comparison between 2020 and 2024.
She told the panel, “Black people, we were not in this insanity of trying to figure out why our history is no longer welcome in the education system. Women were realizing something was happening. If you were coming from another country, if you were coming to this country to find a better life, you were not welcome.”
