Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is in mourning after learning of the horrific stabbing death of a K-9 who was protecting two lives.
A sudden prison attack at Sussex I State Prison resulted in K-9 Riven being “repeatedly stabbed and kicked by the inmates,” as the brave officer protected Corrections Officer Kharmishia Phillip Fields. Of the four attackers, three are said to have verified ties to MS-13, one of the world’s most prominent and violent gangs. All four were determined to be illegal aliens at the time of their arrests.
“The VADOC is mourning the line of duty death of Rivan, a K-9 killed by MS-13 gang members while heroically protecting its assigned Corrections Officer, staff, and inmates at Sussex I State Prison,” the organization posted on X with a photo of the good boy.

VADOC Director Chad Dotson praised the K-9 officer for saving the lives of two others with his heroic actions.
“The loss of Rivan is truly tragic, but it is important to remember he did not die in vain,” Dotson said. “He lost his life while potentially saving the lives of two people, his assigned Officer and an inmate. The VADOC will never forget Rivan’s sacrifice.”
Even Governor Youngkin weighed in, vowing that those involved in the death of the officer were going to be held “accountable” for their “barbaric” actions.
“God bless Rivan, a heroic K-9 who was killed in the line of duty in Virginia. These barbaric members of MS-13 will be held accountable,” he shared on X.

Death penalty. We shouldn’t be wasting money incarcerating gang members, just give them the death penalty.

Rivan is a hero and an amazing blessing to the staff and the inmate whose lives were saved. How fortunate you were to have him.
