Ron DeSantis is fed up with Joe Biden’s failed leadership.
He did not pull any punches about the latest crisis facing the country.
And Sean Hannity was stunned when Ron DeSantis told him this brutal fact about Joe Biden.
The political turmoil and violence rocking Haiti have the country on the verge of collapse.
Acting Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry fled the country and resigned, leaving the government hanging by a thread.
Heavily armed gangs have captured more than 80% of the capital of Port-au-Prince.
The conflict in the country has more than one million Haitians on the verge of famine, raising fears there could be a mass exodus to Florida.
Ron DeSantis says Florida is ready to deal with Haitians
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appeared on the Fox News show Hannity, where he outlined his state’s preparations to deal with a potential influx of Haitians.
“We step up and do what we need to do in Florida,” DeSantis said.
Host Sean Hannity noted that the Florida Governor did not wait for President Joe Biden to act before he sprang into action.
DeSantis said that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission intercepted a boat off the state’s Atlantic Coast with 25 Haitians carrying firearms, drugs, and night vision equipment.
“[W]e have the strongest protection that our shorelines have ever had,” he said. “[W]e did interdict the one boat that had the 25 Haitians that were trying to come illegally with guns and drugs.”
The Haitians were handed over to the Coast Guard to begin the deportation process.
“I don’t expect, necessarily, to get the help that I think we’re entitled to, and what we found over the last several years is the Coast Guard — they do a good job. They’re just way under-resource[d]. Biden will not provide the number of vessels that they need to interdict all the ships that come,” DeSantis said.
Florida authorities have interdicted 660 boats carrying 13,580 illegal aliens.
Florida taking a tough posture to deter Haitians
DeSantis said that the lack of mass migration via the sea from Haitians is in part from the hardline Florida has taken against illegal aliens trying to arrive in boats.
“I think part of that is because people know if you take that journey, you’re going to get stopped and you’re going to end up back where you started, so it’s not worth it,” DeSantis remarked.
He also speculated that many Haitians have not tried to arrive via boats because the southern border is wide open, making that route easier for them even coming from the Caribbean.
A reporter asked him at a press conference why he was taking action to stop a potential influx of Haitians when there had not been any signs of a mass migration.
“I said, what are you supposed to do, wait for it to happen?” DeSantis asked. “So, we’re putting our assets in place to be able to defend the state.”
Ron DeSantis is stepping up to defend Florida while the federal government is nowhere to be found during the Haitian crisis.
