Conservative commentator Candace Owens is convinced beyond persuasion that French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife is a dude.
“After looking into this, I would stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man,” Owens wrote in a tweet published to the social media platform X on Monday.

This episode is blowing up so I just want to say—After looking into this, I would stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man. Any journalist or publication that is trying to dismiss this plausibility is immediately identifiable as…

The tweet was posted a day after Owens dedicated her Monday show to parsing out the wild theory that Brigitte Macron is a man.
The theory first appeared in 2021 when psychic Amandine Roy and freelance journalist Natacha Rey published a four-hour video claiming that Brigitte was born a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux, that her first husband wasn’t real, and that her children aren’t really hers.
FYI, Jean-Michel Trogneux is reportedly the name of Brigitte’s brother.
Two years later in 2021, the two were fined by a French court.
“[T]he judicial court in Lisieux fined both women €2,000 each, after Brigitte Macron and her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux decided to sue them for libel,” Politico reported at the time.
The theory recently reemerged, prompting a clapback from President Macron and his daughter, Tiphaine Auzaine.
“The worst thing is the false information and fabricated scenarios,” Macron said last week at an International Women’s Day event in Paris, according to the New York Post. “People eventually believe them and disturb you, even in your intimacy.”
“I have concerns about the level of society when I hear what is circulating on social networks about my mother being a man,” Auzaine added. “The confidence of what is affirmed and the credit given to what is proclaimed. Anyone can say anything about anyone, and it takes time to get it taken down.”
But Owens isn’t convinced.
Watch Monday’s episode of her show below:
During the episode, Owens said she’d be willing to drop the theory if Brigette would simply hold a press conference alongside her brother and display photos of them growing up.
“Then I would say, ‘It’s harmful to produce conspiracy theories. Now that we have debunked that, let’s talk about the harm of conspiracy theories,’” she said. “But they’re not doing any of that. Instead, they’re just scrambling.”
Owens went on to claim that the Macrons are being blackmailed into pushing certain laws/policies in exchange for the perpetrators remaining silent about Brigitte’s alleged real sexual identity.
“If it is proven true, then what we are unpacking here is exactly what we are unpacking in America, that blackmail is what rules the world,” Owens said.
Responding to her posts, many of her listeners expressed agreement with her theory and line of reasoning.

I didn’t really understand why this could be such a big issue until Candace talked about blackmail. Now it makes sense!

At first I didn’t believe this stuff, but then there was that interview with the daughter that gave credence that she’s a guy. Brigitte does look a bit weird for a woman…

Normally I’d dismiss this as some typical trutherism nonsense, but there is some compelling info here that should easily be debunkable but it isn’t.
The coverup is always worse than the crime!

I heard that episode yesterday and I agree. Compelling! I had not heard about this until Candice talked about it yesterday.
The episode before that about P Diddy, Michael Jackson was freaky too.

But many others likewise pushed back on Owens by claiming her theory is a conspiratorial in nature and doesn’t deserve to even be considered.
“The statement is baseless, offensive, and lacks evidence. Spreading unfounded rumors about someone’s gender is harmful and irresponsible. It is important to fact-check before making such serious accusations,” one critic wrote.
“This is the hill you are willing to die on? Really? A tabloid story going around for years in France and that would be a private matter anyway. What’s next? Elvis is still alive,” another critic wrote.
Owens has for her part continued to double and triple down on her theory.
Case in point:
I looked into this expecting it to be an insane conspiracy theory and it is anything but.
It took 3 years of research for the journalists to unpack this series.
It would take 3 seconds for Macron to dispel these rumors and yet they seem unable to.
The implications are WILD.
