Former Attorney General Bill Barr dialed down the rhetoric against his former boss and now admits that he’ll be voting for former President Donald J. Trump.
The former Justice Department boss begrudgingly finds himself on the same side as Trump – albeit begrudgingly – and he told Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto that the alternative in the upcoming election is far worse.
During a Saturday appearance on the conservative news network, Barr told Cavuto that while he’s “not happy with the choice,” Trump is preferable to Democrats whom he described as a “heavy-handed bunch of thugs” in remarks that are an accurate description to today’s authoritarian leftists.

“For all of your problems with your former boss and all the issues that he raised in office and all the damage you argue he had done, you are still supporting him over Joe Biden,” Cavuto said. “I know you had said before you would support the Republican ticket, and you are, but he’s heading that ticket, for all those warts and problems you cited. Why?”
” I’m not happy with the choice, I think this is a terrible choice for the country, but it is a choice,” Barr responded. “At the end of the day, we have to select between two different individuals, and I’ve said all along that I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think will do the least harm to the country and I think that that to me, that’s clearly Trump and the Republican administration which I think is important.”
“I think, you know, getting control over the border, stopping the lawlessness in our cities, building up the strength of the United States in an ever, more dangerous world, stop the avalanche of regulation that is strangling business and our technological superiority,” he continued. “These are critical things that have to be done and I think that we’ll get them done under a Trump administration.”
“At the same time, I think the Biden administration, it is, in fact, the greater threat to democracy. I think, that they have a totalitarian temper,” he added. “They have bought into the progressive movement, and they’re trying to squelch opposition and freedom of speech.”
“The threat facing our country is from the far left and the drift that’s been occurring toward really a socialistic system,” Barr said, dismissing the propaganda that Trump would be a right-wing dictator when the leftists who have embraced classic communist principles are the real menace. “It’s a heavy-handed bunch of thugs in my opinion, and that’s where the threat is.”
“This case is an abomination,” Barr said of the Stormy Daniels “hush money” case during another Fox News appearance earlier in the week. “It’s obviously political. Seven years after he pays hush money to try to come up with this case. It’s also, as you say, it’s not only far-fetched… they’re trying to predicate it on a federal crime which wasn’t prosecuted.”
Barr and other Trump critics are now coming around with the former president being the only one standing between them and the rabidly partisan Democrat prosecutors who have weaponized the judicial system against their political adversaries.
