Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made headlines in January of 2023 when she turned the gavel over to Republican Kevin McCarthy.
Yet in a bombshell allegation, one prominent conservative claimed last week that the Republican who replaced McCarthy isn’t much different from Pelosi.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: “There’s not even any daylight”
According to the Washington Examiner, Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made that allegation during a telephone interview with CNN on Wednesday.
“There’s not even any daylight between him and Nancy Pelosi at this point,” the firebrand congresswoman said of Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Greene said many Republican voters are “furious” with the speaker for his decision to make compromises with Democrats in order to keep the federal government open.
Also at issue is Johnson’s support for continued military support to Ukraine, a trait which led Greene to label him as being “Mitch McConnell’s twin.”
Greene refuses to say if she will try to end Johnson’s speakership over Ukraine
“Let me tell you, when he forces that vote, again, under suspension with no amendments, and funds Ukraine and people find out how angry their constituents are about it, that’s going to move the needle even more,” Greene was quoted as telling the network.
When Greene was asked as to whether or not she is planning to push for Johnson’s removal should he move forward on a Ukraine aid package, the congresswoman refused to say.
“I’m not saying I have a red line or a trigger, and I’m not saying I don’t have a red line or trigger,” Greene said in response.
“And I think that’s just where I’m at right now. But I’m going to tell you right now: Funding Ukraine is probably one of the most egregious things that he can do,” she went on to add.
Congresswoman: Democrats prefer Johnson as speaker over Hakeem Jeffries
What’s more, Greene dismissed warnings from other conservative House members who have suggested that getting rid of Johnson could backfire.
“We cannot get anyone more moderate than Mike Johnson,” Greene said, declaring, “I would argue Mike Johnson, we can’t get any further left than Mike Johnson.”
The lawmaker went on to assert that “the Democrats might be happier” with Johnson as speaker than they would with New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries at the helm.
