It’s feminist vs. trans in Norway. Yes, the trans community still remains the pound for pound most marginalized (though, drag queens are climbing the charts). Feminists keep falling off the rankings. The latest example is feminist Christina Ellingsen who got into a beef with Christine Jentoft, a trans activist. Her crime? Tweeting that men can’t be lesbians. Shout out to Not the Bee.
Here is the offending tweet in question: “Why [does trans activism group] FRI teach young people that males can be lesbians? Isn’t that conversion therapy?”
In a follow-up tweet: “Jentoft, who is male and an advisor in FRI, presents himself as a lesbian – that’s how bonkers the organization which supposedly works to protect young lesbians’ interests is. How does it help young lesbians when males claim to be lesbian, too?”
All of this seems silly. Or, rather, it should if you have full access to your brain. The rub is Norway just expanded its hate crime laws to include “gender identity,” making criticizing gender ideology a crime. If charged, Ellingsen could face three years in prison. Over two tweets. The Norwegian feminist says police have already been investigating her because she fights for women’s rights. Quote: “to certain groups, the fact that women and girls are female and that men cannot be women, girls, mothers or lesbians, is considered hateful.”
It sucks, but it’s also a warning for Americans. Because we’ve seen this in other countries. A UK man was arrested for a prank involving a dog who looked like Hitler. Australian police don’t think you have a right to free speech if you are disagreeing with public order. Canada wants special tools to censor the internet.
This is what happens in countries where they don’t have a First Amendment or free speech rights. These are the countries who inspire leftists in THIS country to say free speech has its limits. Pay attention. This can all happen here if we don’t.
