Former AG Bill Barr claims that he is happy that Special Counsel John Durham, has revealed that Hillary and her campaign were the masterminds behind the Russia Collusion hoax. How much of that is sincere and how much of that is damage control to aid in the sale of his books is hard to say. Democrats weren’t buying his books, even though he was critical of Trump and Republicans weren’t buying his book because they saw him as a traitor.
Barr stated that the investigation had two goals. The first goal was to expose the FBI’s corrupt handling of the Clinton and Trump investigations and to reveal why an investigation with no merit was launched in the first place. The second goal, according to Barr was to prosecute those who broke laws, but he admitted that the high bar and the reluctance of juries in Corrupt Washington DC made the 2nd goal hard to achieve.
But, all in all, he claims he is pleased with the results so far. There seems to be much more to go, but I am not holding out much hope that anyone will be serving any time in prison. The Sussmann case should have been open and shut, but with a corrupt judge presiding the outcome was inevitable. With Hillary supporters on the jury and the judge squeezing what federal prosecutors could and could not say, the results were no big surprise.
Sussmann, a former Perkins Coie lawyer, was indicted on one count of lying to the FBI in September 2016 when he presented since-debunked evidence that the Trump Organization had ties to a Russian bank. Durham’s prosecutors alleged that Sussmann had pretended to be a concerned citizen without disclosing that he was working for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. They claimed that Sussmann went to the FBI with unverified information so that the bureau would open a case against Donald Trump and that the Clinton campaign subsequently used leaked information from the investigation to attack her Republican rival ahead of the presidential election.
“I’m disappointed, in the outcome. But I am actually happy, that [Durham] blew up the case,” he told Beck.
He continued: “I think it actually achieved a lot of progress on the issue of getting at the truth. He shed a lot of light, and demonstrated the central role play by Hillary Clinton’s campaign. And also, the very troubling behavior of the FBI leadership, that — that duped its own agents about the source of this information. And that’s a lot of progress.”
