Sony’s State of Play June 2022 event promises to showcase a variety of new PS5 games from third-party publishers. We’ll also get a first look at PSVR 2 in action – so it’s worth tuning in if you’re even a teensy bit excited about the upcoming virtual reality headset.
If you’re hoping to see the likes of God of War: Ragnarok or the long-rumored The Last of Us remake, temper your expectations. Sony has said that the June 2 event will include “exciting reveals from our third-party partners,” which means no first-party titles are likely to be shown.
👀 Which PS5 games could we see?
The State of Play event will last for nearly 30 minutes, but what titles can we expect to see during PlayStation’s presentation?
We know that Horizon Call of the Mountain, a first-party PSVR 2 game, will be shown. We’ve only seen a brief snippet of the game so far, but Sony promises a “new look” at one of the games that will likely be a launch title for PlayStation VR2. Sony plans to have over 20 PSVR 2 games at launch, which means we could see more than a few VR games.
However, it’s still unclear whether Sony will announce a PSVR 2 pre-order date. I think it’s an excellent opportunity to do so, honestly, as it’s easy for key dates to get lost in the avalanche of announcements that tend to happen during June – which is the event season in the video game industry.

Rumors regarding a Silent Hill remake refuse to go away regarding expected third-party titles. Bloober Team will reportedly revive Konami’s dormant survival horror franchise, but it’s still not confirmed. We could also get new information on Final Fantasy 16, Stray – the indie game that sees you play as a cat – and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
⌚ What time does the State of Play begin?
Sony’s State of Play event starts today, June 2, at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST / 12am CET. You can watch it over on Twitch or YouTube. I’ve embedded the YouTube stream below for your convenience.
🎮 Is there an Xbox event?
Yes! Microsoft is holding its Xbox & Bethesda Showcase on June 12, which will be jam-packed with reveals and world premieres. It takes place at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm CET. A large portion of the games shown will likely be coming straight to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, particularly as all of Microsoft’s first-party titles are released on Game Pass day one.
So which PS5 games are you desperately hoping to see? I’d personally love to see a new Hot Shots Golf title get announced or for Capcom to finally share more information regarding Resident Evil Village’s DLC. Either way, it’s sure to be an action-packed show, and I’ll be rounding up the biggest reveals once the dust settles.
