Florida is in the crosshairs of the media once again.
They are targeting the Sunshine State because of their feud with Ron DeSantis.
And the media looked like clowns after this botched hit piece on Florida.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has turned the Sunshine State into one of the hottest destinations in the country for businesses and people looking to relocate.
The state is near the top of any list for population growth and domestic migration.
But that did not stop the media from running an absurd hit piece on Florida.
NBC News botches smear job against Florida
NBC News ran a hit piece that implied residents were fleeing Florida because of costs and DeSantis’ culture war.
“The Sunshine State isn’t always as sunny as it may seem. Hundreds of thousands of new residents have flocked to Florida with the promise of beautiful weather and no income tax. But nearly 500,000 left in 2022, according to the most recent Census data,” NBC News wrote on X about the story.
The article admitted that Florida was experiencing a population boom, but they misrepresented the facts to make it seem like people were starting to flee the state in large numbers.
Throughout the story were anecdotal accounts of disgruntled Democrats who moved to Florida and decided to leave.
NBC’s intent was to make the reader think Florida is a terrible place to live and that the increasingly conservative politics of the state are driving people out.
DeSantis staffers dismantle hit piece against Florida
DeSantis communications director Bryan Griffin broke down what NBC was trying to do on social media.
“[NBC] told you only half of a statistic to try to take a swipe at Florida (FL’s net in-migration in 2022 led the nation and was record-breaking for the state.),” Griffin wrote on X. “And, they chose a few clearly partisan anecdotes to flesh out their story. See how the media works?”
DeSantis communications staffer Christina Pushaw said, “FACT CHECK: NBC apparently doesn’t know what ‘net migration’ means.”
It drives the media up the wall that Florida is a massive success story under the leadership of DeSantis.
And the numbers back him up.
“In 2022, Florida experienced the largest percentage increase in net population migration, ranking as the fastest growing state in the nation at a rate of 1.9 percent. Domestic migration accounted for 318,855 of Florida’s net migration total, also the largest gain of any state,” a press release from DeSantis’ office stated.
Americans are voting with their feet to move to Florida, so NBC has to manufacture a hit piece to attack DeSantis.
